Festive Ceramics Product Styling: Creating Content for Libby Ballard
Capturing Content for Libby Ballard’s Christmas Ceramics
I’ve been working with Libby Ballard for over 10 years now, which feels quite amazing to say! Libby is a wonderful ceramicist based in Wiltshire, and because we’ve worked together for so long, she just pops her pieces in the post to me and I shoot them from my studio. It’s such an easy, stress-free way for busy makers to get their photos done when they are flat-out preparing for the Christmas rush.
This session was all about festive ceramics product styling, getting a fresh batch of content ready for Libby's online shop and independent marketplaces, like Holly & Co, before the peak gifting season kicks off.
Cosy choices for festive ceramics product styling
For Libby’s new personalised Christmas decorations, the lovely little stars, hearts, and snowflakes, I hung them from a simple winter twig with some fairy lights glowing in the background to give a subtle nod to Christmas, keeping the focus on her beautiful clay textures and ribbon colours.
I also shot her Christmas Eve plate. To give people some fun styling ideas and help them imagine it in their own homes, I set it up with a mince pie, a carrot, and a glass of milk.
A mix of content for web and socials
To give Libby plenty of versatile content she can just grab and use, we focused on a real mix of formats:
Shop listings: Clean, clear product shots for her website and small business marketplaces.
Website banners: A festive batch of photos featuring her hot chocolate, hot toddy, and mulled wine travel mugs styled with dried oranges and pine cones.
Short video clips: Simple videos to show the decorations hanging and the glaze in the light.
